• Bucharest has a public transport network that includes subway (underground transport) and tramways, busses and trolleybuses (surface transport).
To travel by subway, you may purchase:
- a 2-trip card (Lei 2,2) - a 10-trip card (Lei 8) - a one-day card (Lei 4) - a monthly subscription card (Lei 23) – students benefit from a 50% discount
• For those who travel daily by subway and surface transport means, we recommend the purchase of the active subway/RATB cards:
- RATB + subway general subscription (Lei 73) - 1 RATB line + subway subscription (Lei 53) - 2 RATB line + subway subscription (Lei 58)
• RATB subscriptions and tickets: besides the subscriptions offered to travelers together with METROREX (for the underground and surface transport), RATB also offers:
- 1-trip RATB ticket (Lei 1.3) - 1-day all-lines subscription (Lei 8) - 7-day all-lines subscription (Lei 17) - 15-day all-lines subscription (Lei 25) - RATB general subscription (Lei 50) - 1-line RATB subscription (Lei 30) - 2-line RATB subscription (Lei 35)
• The unique-cost travel tickets and the subscriptions can be purchased from the special RATB cabins in stations. The cabins are closed on Sunday. • The 1-trip tickets must be punched for every trip with the surface transport means.
• The transport from the “Henri Coanda” Otopeni Airport – Baneasa Airport – Unirii Square (center of the Capital City) is ensured by the express line 783 with the following tariffs:
- 2-trip magnetic cards (Lei 5) - 10-trip magnetic cards (Lei 27) - monthly magnetic cards (Lei 80)
• The monthly RATB subscriptions are not valid on the Express lines • The fine for travelers without a ticket/subscription is Lei 50. The fine is double if not paid within 48 hours. • The 2- and 10-trip magnetic cards on the express line are valid for the period written on them, and the monthly subscription is valid for 30 days from its first validation. • In Bucharest there is also a Maxi-Taxi network. It’s a private public transport network with various rates, depending on the distance. The prices and routes are displayed on each vehicle. The trip is paid to the driver when getting on the transport means.
